Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President William Ruto gifted women in Mathira, Nyeri County Ksh500,000 after he was impressed by their dress code.<\/p>\n

The women had worn yellow dresses and green head ties representing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) colours, a gesture that impressed the Deputy President who was in a tour of the region on Saturday, December 4.<\/p>\n

DP Ruto splashed the money on the women and promised to work with such groups to empower millions of women and by extension families and communities across Kenya when elected President in 2022.<\/p>\n

“I admire the spirit and tenacity I see in the women groups of Konyu in Mathira Constituency and across the country. I recognize this spirit, this desire to make tomorrow a better day financially, because it is the hustler spirit,” the DP stated.<\/p>\n

Ruto, who spoke at a fundraiser in Mathira, also dished out an additional Ksh1.5 million for women groups and Ksh500,000 for boda boda riders who were in attendance.<\/p>\n

During his tour of Nyeri County, Ruto promised to take into account the Big Four Agenda launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta if he is elected as Head of State on August 9, 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will give out Ksh100 billion for housing and value addition for the youth. These are our children. We have taken them to school, if we don\u2019t plan about their employment who will?\u201d he posed.<\/p>\n

The DP stated that he will hold steady on the promises the Jubilee administration made even if President Kenyatta retires. He also maintained that he will revive the Big Four Projects that stalled.<\/p>\n

“I am ready to take the country to the next level by reviving key programmes and projects that stalled including the Big Four Agenda,” Ruto emphasized.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Kieni Member of Parliament, Kanini Kega, opined that the Deputy President\u2019s team was surprised by the warm reception ODM leader Raila Odinga received in Nyeri last week and that is why he returned to the region to seek votes.<\/p>\n

Kega claimed the DP\u2019s allies in Mt Kenya have now planned his tour of Nyeri to counter the gains made by the former Prime Minister.<\/p>\n

\u201cRuto thought he had Mt Kenya votes in his pocket. After Raila\u2019s trip to Nyeri, it dawned on him that he still needed to convince the voters why they should elect him as President,\u201d Kega noted.<\/p>\n

\u201cNyeri people showed Raila a lot of love, and they are gradually buying into his Azimio La Umoja philosophy. We are happy with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lawmaker stated that the DP was free to visit any part of the country to sell his ideologies but urged him to adopt a measured tone when talking about President Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n
