Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji, has broken silence over the case involving Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai’s son, who is accused of causing death by dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

The accident has seen the families of the deceased accuse police of cover up, forcing the DPP to intervene and assure them that the due process would be followed and justice served.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Garissa County on Tuesday, December 7, Haji pronounced his commitment towards ensuring that the two families get justice within the shortest time possible.<\/p>\n

The DPP, however, stated that his office has not yet received the police file for prosecution, assuring once he does, the due process will be followed.<\/p>\n

“I will check my desk, if it is ready, we will proceed and prosecute. As we said, justice will be served to every Kenyan,” he stated.<\/p>\n

The DPP also cleared the air over a possible cover up by police to protect the IG’s son identified as David Mwendwa.<\/p>\n

The family of one of the deceased, a 28-year-old motorcycle rider, was thrown into disbelief after identifying the body of their kin at the City Mortuary three days after he went missing.<\/p>\n

A postmortem of one of the rider’s body revealed that he succumbed after sustaining head and leg fractures.<\/p>\n

Their misery was compounded by the frustrations they faced under the police handling the matter, who they accused of nonchalance and unwillingness to divulge crucial details about the accident.<\/p>\n

“We have been taken round in circles. You can see the officer wants to help but when they think of repercussions that are likely to accompany them, they retreat,” said one of the family members.<\/p>\n

David Mwendwa is accused of causing death by dangerous driving on Thursday, December 3.<\/p>\n

Mwendwa was whisked away from the scene of the accident together with the other two women who were in his company.<\/p>\n
