Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principal Moses Wetangula, on Sunday, December 19, promised free secondary education if the coalition ascends to power in August 2022.<\/p>\n

Wetangula spoke at a rally in Thika, accompanied by his fellow OKA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), and Gideon Moi (Kanu). Also in attendance were former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo and ex-Kiambu governor William Kabogo.<\/p>\n

Wetangula also pledged to provide affordable health care to all Kenyans through the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).<\/p>\n

\u201cJust as Kibaki (third President Mwai Kibaki) introduced free primary education, we shall stretch it further to University.”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe shall prioritize medical covers for everyone under the NHIF to enable Kenyans access quality healthcare at an affordable rate,\u201d the Senator for Bungoma County stated.<\/p>\n

Wetangula who also doubles as the Ford Kenya Party Leader spoke of his proven track record as a peacemaker as he wooed the Mt Kenya community to rally behind OKA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the post-election violence happened, I brought mediators Koffi Annan (former United Nations Secretary General), Jakaya Kikwete (former Tanzania President) and John Kuffuor (former Ghana President) who helped us restore peace,\u201d Wetangula rallied the mountain.<\/p>\n

At the rally in Thika, Kalonzo asked Raila to retire with President Uhuru Kenyatta in August 2022.He argued that Kenya would enjoy peace and posterity only if the two leaders quit politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen our friend Uhuru Kenyatta goes home next year, he needs to tag along with his partner Raila Odinga. Me and my friends in OKA have bot fallen out with anyone. We\u2019ll ensure the country is heading in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n

OKA leaders were invited to Thika by former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo who is expected to vie for the governor’s seat in 2022. Kabogo served the county in the same capacity between 2013 and 2017 before losing out to Ferdinand Waititu in the 2017 polls.<\/p>\n

In November 2021, Raila also promised free university education. Speaking in Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, November 20, 2021, the former Prime Minister pledged to offer free education from nursery to university.<\/p>\n

“Every child born in this country will have an equal opportunity from nursery, primary secondary to university. The funds that are always looted belong to you, hence I promise to seal all those loopholes and channel the funds to my education plan,” he stated.<\/p>\n
