Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Deputy President continued to champion his bottom up model at the Coast.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the DP was in Garsen constituency, Tana River county, where he held rallies.<\/p>\n

He said his model will ensure marginalised regions are supported in the areas of businesses and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Taking to Twitter, he said,<\/p>\n

We are rooting for increased allocation of resources to disadvantaged counties such as Tana River which has for many years been left behind in terms of development. pic.twitter.com\/CCOCbSaH7O<\/p>\n

Ruto started his tour of the Coast on Sunday, after landing in the region on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Two politicians were beaten up by goons during a UDA dinner meeting of professionals from Mombasa on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

The two are eye specialist Sanjeev Agarwal, who is eyeing the Mombasa governor seat, and Mohamed \u2018Tenge\u2019 Salim, an ally of Deputy President William Ruto.<\/p>\n

They were attacked shortly after they arrived at the Nyali residence of one of Ruto\u2019s staunch allies in Mombasa, where the dinner meeting was being hosted.<\/p>\n

Agarwal and Tenge were in DP Ruto\u2019s convoy that had arrived from the Moi International Airport.<\/p>\n

Agarwal\u2019s personal assistant Bethwel Washington said trouble started at the airport when some UDA operatives tried to block the governor aspirant from being in the line to welcome the DP.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were some manoeuvres that surprised us. It was like a group of people were keen on ensuring that we don\u2019t come out of the VIP room where we were. They tried to block us from welcoming the DP,\u201d Washington said.<\/p>\n

From the airport, the convoy snaked its way to English Point Marina where Ruto freshened up before heading to the meeting in Nyali.<\/p>\n

Washington, who was driving Agarwal, said immediately Ruto emerged from his car, Agarwal, who was two cars behind Ruto\u2019s, also jumped out to be at the line that was waiting to welcome the DP.<\/p>\n

Abdulsalaam Kassim, who is eyeing the Mombasa senator seat, was in Tenge\u2019s car further back.<\/p>\n

Kassim said Agarwal was blocked from reaching the welcoming party.<\/p>\n
