Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>KCB’s marksman Henry Onyango reckons the moment has finally arrived for them to lay claim to their maiden Kenyan Premier League title.<\/p>\n

The bankers will look to shake off last season’s heartbreak where they missed the title by a whisker after wrapping up second, hot on the heels of Tusker.<\/p>\n

The coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno-tutored side will return to action on December 30 against Nzoia Sugar in Nairobi but Onyango believes they will have taken sufficient rest to restart their hunt for the title on a high.<\/p>\n

Onyango said their splendid run thus far has been propelled by the vital combination of an informed technical bench and a more tactically organised squad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe good thing about KCB at the moment is that we have a very effective technical bench. Even more encouraging is the fact that the selection of the matchday squad is done above board and all players are given equal opportunity. It all depends on one’s form,\u201d said Onyango.<\/p>\n

The striker said they borrowed key lessons on their way to the runners-up podium in the preceding season where they missed the title by a whisker after finishing behind eventual winners Tusker.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe learnt from our shortcomings in the preceding season and we are keen to turn our failure into success on our way to a possible KPL title,\u201d said Onyango.<\/p>\n

Even as he looks to a glorious season with the team, Onyango has his sights firmly trained on individual honours.<\/p>\n

He has been at the heart of the bankers’ two-pronged attack, making successful inroads into the opponents’ final third alongside namesake Derrick Onyango.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy target is to wrap up the season with at least nine goals and six assists. Last season, I managed to three goals and five assists,\u201d said Onyango.<\/p>\n

The fixtures resume on December 29 with 13-time Kenyan champions, AFC Leopards hosting Kakamega Homeboyz at Nyayo Stadium as Bandari settle scores with Bandari at Mbaraki in Mombasa.<\/p>\n

Vihiga Bullets will flex muscles with Sofapaka as Kariobangi Sharks square off with Talanta.<\/p>\n
