{"id":42507,"date":"2021-12-26T16:21:43","date_gmt":"2021-12-26T16:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=42507"},"modified":"2021-12-26T15:21:51","modified_gmt":"2021-12-26T15:21:51","slug":"junior-police-officer-fatally-shoots-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/junior-police-officer-fatally-shoots-boss","title":{"rendered":"Junior Police Officer Fatally Shoots Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A police officer attached to Utheri Wa Lari police post in Mai Mahiu fatally shot his senior in an incident that has shocked colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>Reports on Sunday, December 26, indicated that the junior officer took with him a loaded gun before fleeing the crime scene.<\/p>\n<p>Naivasha OCPD, Samuel Waweru, confirmed the incident and stated that a manhunt had been launched for the officer who is armed and dangerous.<\/p>\n<p>Detectives had also arrived at the crime scene and launched investigations to establish what happened before the junior cop turned the gun against his boss.<\/p>\n<p>Incidents of killings among the police have been on the rise over the last year and President Uhuru Kenyatta was forced to intervene after a police officer fatally shot six people in Kabete.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of State raised concern over the rising cases of rage killings by police officers and pleaded with cops to seek alternative means of addressing their issues such as counselling.<\/p>\n<p>He reminded the police of the great responsibility they hold with their guns.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to urge you especially the young people, There are so many problems in this world but there is no problem that cannot be solved when people speak. I say this because this issue is disturbing me.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am begging you. If you see that you have a problem at home or at work, look for your colleagues, seniors, or family so that you talk to them. You will get a solution by simply talking,&#8221; Uhuru advised.<\/p>\n<p>The President also acknowledged that mental health was a real challenge within the police service further urging cops to embrace the challenges they were facing.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mental health is a real problem but it is a problem that can be addressed if you reach out. There is no need of carrying out the acts that we have seen. Please, just step forward. There is no shame in it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your gun is for protecting lives, not taking them.
