Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A police officer who fatally shot his boss has been arrested after he was traced to a bar in the Rift Valley City of Nakuru.<\/p>\n

Confirming the incident on Monday, December 27, the County’s Police Commander, Beatrice Kiraguri, noted that the unidentified officer was nabbed after his cell phone was traced to the joint.<\/p>\n

The officer attached to Utheri Wa Lari police post in Mai Mahiu shot and killed his senior at the station after arriving while drunk.<\/p>\n

Kiraguri noted that the officer is expected to produce the riffle he used to kill his boss, identified as Ayub Polo, which he hid after the incident occurred on Sunday, December 26.<\/p>\n

The suspect is expected to be transferred to Naivasha where he will be interrogated over the incident that took place at Kedong Ranch in Naivasha.<\/p>\n

“He will be ferried to Naivasha for further questioning,” stated the Police Commander.<\/p>\n

Reports on Sunday indicated that the junior officer took with him a loaded gun and fired at the senior boss five times before fleeing the crime scene.<\/p>\n

The junior officer, who had arrived late, was angered when Ayolo questioned him why he had arrived late and while intoxicated.<\/p>\n

Detectives had also arrived at the crime scene and launched investigations to establish what happened before the junior cop turned the gun against his boss.<\/p>\n

“The suspect came to the camp drunk and got angry when he was questioned for his behaviour by his senior,” Naivasha Deputy County Commissioner, Kisilu Mutua, confirmed.<\/p>\n

Incidents of killings among the police have been on the rise over the last year and President Uhuru Kenyatta was forced to intervene after a police officer fatally shot six people in Kabete.<\/p>\n

The Head of State raised concern over the rising cases of rage killings by police officers and pleaded with cops to seek alternative means of addressing their issues such as counselling.<\/p>\n

He reminded the police of the great responsibility they hold with their guns.<\/p>\n
