Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday, December 28, revealed his secret role in helping former Tanzanian President John Magufuli transform his country’s economy.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Suna West, Migori county, Raila stated that he was an integral part in Magufuli’s transformation of Tanzania’s economy.<\/p>\n

He revealed that the late president reached out to him for counsel and economic development strategies.<\/p>\n

The African Union High Representative For infrastructure Development revealed he had numerous phone calls with the Tanzanian President, which were highlighted by conversations on where to get funding.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was Magufuli\u2019s advisor and he would even call me at 6 am in the morning to ask for my input on issues. I told him where he could get money,\u201d Raila stated.<\/p>\n

The ODM party leader intimated that he helped Magufuli identify loopholes that he needed to seal to foster economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stayed with him for one week when he was elected. I told him the loopholes to seal to help him generate money for the country,\u201d Odinga narrated.<\/p>\n

He revealed that just like Kenya, Tanzania was also grappling with corruption which, in his counsel to the former head of state, needed to be tackled.<\/p>\n

The handshake partner highlighted that a lot of funds needed to be channelled to rural development, education and the creation of employment. He noted that investing in education would lead to the unlocking f employment opportunities for Kenyans<\/p>\n

Raila promised to implement what worked in Tanzania back home. He further defended his social protection fund policy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said that I know where we will get money to support the social protection fund. We must change how we are moving as a country,\u201d Raila reiterated.<\/p>\n

Among the key areas that he felt needed transformation was the health sector. The Azimio la Umoja patron emphasized on the importance of all citizens to access proper healthcare regardless of their economic backgrounds.<\/p>\n
