Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga received a major political boost after five sitting Members of Parliament joined the Azimio la Umoja Movement.<\/p>\n

During the Bukhungu II Declaration, held in Kakamega town on Friday, December 31, MPs Benard Shinali of Ikolomani, Godfrey Osotsi, nominated Oku Kaunya, Teso North, and Emanuel Wangwe Navakholo, took centre stage as they announced their support for Odinga’s presidential bid.<\/p>\n

However, Amani National Congress Deputy leader Ayub Savula was the big catch for Odinga, after he announced his exit from the One Kenya Alliance.<\/p>\n

“Today, I have officially joined the Azimio la Umoja. From today I’ve left One Kenya Alliance. I am now supporting Raila for President.”<\/p>\n

“At the moment, we have a two horse race, between DP William Ruto and Raila. Today I have joined Azimio la Umoja, ” he stated.<\/p>\n

Savula stated he would however, seek the Kakamega Gubernatorial ticket in the upcoming 2022 General Election.<\/p>\n

“Today I’ve come to seek votes from incumbent Wycliffe Oparanya and the rest for the Kakamega Gubernatorial bid,” Savula stated much to the applause from the crowd.<\/p>\n

The much hyped Bukhungu II meeting was hosted by Secretary General of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Francis Atwoli in a bid to consolidate the Mulembe vote and endorse Ondiga’s State House bid.<\/p>\n

Among those who attended the event included Kitui governor Charity Ngilu, Kisii Governor James Ongwae, Royal Media Services (RMS) boss SK Macharia, Defence CS Eugene Wamalwa among others.<\/p>\n

The One Kenya Alliance (OKA) chiefs however steered clear from the meeting. ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi was to grace Cleophas Malala’s tournament finals at Mumias Sports Complex.<\/p>\n

FORD Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula , who was also to be part of the Malala event, however indicated that he would attend other projects, choosing to snub the two events.<\/p>\n

“Today I’m meeting Ford Kenya Officials and party candidates in Trans Nzoia to plan for 2022. Thereafter I will attend end year boat racing at number beach in Bwiri ward Busia,” Wetangula’s stated.<\/p>\n
