{"id":42865,"date":"2021-12-31T15:49:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-31T15:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/?p=42865"},"modified":"2021-12-31T14:30:09","modified_gmt":"2021-12-31T14:30:09","slug":"simiu-set-for-valencia-10km-ahead-of-world-indoor-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/all-news\/simiu-set-for-valencia-10km-ahead-of-world-indoor-race","title":{"rendered":"Simiu set for Valencia 10km ahead of World Indoor race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Newly crowned Cape Town 12km road race champion Daniel Simiu will highlight the Valencia 10km road race next month in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Simiu will be using the race as part of the build-up ahead of World Indoor Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Simiu said the January 9th race will kick-start the 2022 journey that will see him feature in a number of races including the World Championships in Oregon and Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking my debut in the race will be great as I prepare for the rest of the season,\u201d said Simiu, who is also the inaugural Nakuru City Half marathon champion.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh from finishing second at the Athletics Kenya Sotik Cross Country Championships, the Iten-based runner earned a slot to compete at the race following the cancellation of Corrida de Houilles 10km, the race he won in 2019 with a course record of 27:12.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was set to defend my Corrida de Houilles race title but it was canceled due to the Covid-19 in France,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven if I don\u2019t win or get my personal best, I want to run my best.
