Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya on Sunday recorded 1,354 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country’s case load to 298,509, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.<\/p>\n

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 5,331 recording a positivity rate of 25.4 per cent.<\/p>\n

The cumulative tests stand at 3,042,313.<\/p>\n

The country’s fatalities have risen to 5,384 after another three patients succumbed to the disease.<\/p>\n

Kagwe said that there are 1,029 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 23,667 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.<\/p>\n

Some 53 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 21 of them on ventilatory support while 26 are on supplemental oxygen. 6 patients are under observation.<\/p>\n

Another 271 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 248 of them are in the general wards. 23 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, 400 patients have recovered from the disease, 216 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 184 are from various health facilities countrywide.<\/p>\n

Total recoveries now stand at254,115 of whom 204,806 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 49,309 are from various health facilities countrywide.<\/p>\n

VACCINATION CAMPAIGN<\/b><\/p>\n

As of January 1, 2022, a total of 10,121,263 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 5,871,177 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 4,215,806.<\/p>\n

Another 21,065 are doses administered to those between 15 to18 years while 13,215 are booster doses.<\/p>\n

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at55.8%. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 15.5%.<\/p>\n

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.The table below shows the total Co<\/p>\n
