Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Decorated journalist Alex Chamwada and former classmates at St Peters Mumias Boys High school surprised, Cassianus Ijait Aluku, who served as their Principal from 1982 to 1992.<\/p>\n

The alumni organised a ceremony, 30 years later, that hailed Aluku’s contributions to the school and their wellbeing. According to Wanyonyi Buteyo, Chamwada’s former classmate, the institution was ranked the top school in the Western region during Aluku’s reign.<\/p>\n

“These are the boys you taught. You are the reason why we believe we are who we are today. Some of them are struggling with weight like myself,” Buteyo stated.<\/p>\n

Chamwada, an alumni himself, attributed the success of his channel to his former Principal.<\/p>\n

“Currently, I have two former students of St Peters in my company, Chams Media, one is an accountant, the other is a communication consultant,” he stated.<\/p>\n

As the old boys rekindled memories of their past secondary school life, they also honoured their deputy at the time, John Barasa Munyasia, who served from 1984 to 1986.<\/p>\n

The school’s current Principal, Cosmas Nabungolo, lauded the old boys for the initiative.<\/p>\n

“This is like the mother’s milk when you pass through St Peters. You know what it means when you look back and say, this is what I can give in return. Among the lists I would like to front is if we have a twin lab for chemistry and another lab for IT, you will have largely saved your school,” he stated.<\/p>\n

Aluku received goats among other gifts in order to commemorate his achievements. Speaking at the ceremony, he acknowledged the gesture, adding that he was appeased by the old boys.<\/p>\n

“My delight is walking around and seeing each one of you. Kindly, when I call one of you for dialogue, please don’t get embarrassed,” he stated, much to the cheers from the alumni.<\/p>\n

Some of the old boys who are still active in the group in the alumni forum: Webuye West Member of Parliament, Dan Wanyama, Murang’a County Commissioner, Fred Ndunga, Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK, Manoah Esipisu, Head of Military Intelligence Brigadier Gen., David Obonyo Otiende, and Francis Xavier, coach of Mathare United.<\/p>\n

Some of the activities carried out within the forum include supporting school infrastructure, nurturing talents, supporting needy students and career guidance.<\/p>\n
