Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kirinyaga Woman Representative, Purity Wangui Ngirici, has revealed that Deputy President William Ruto did not come to her rescue as his allies body-shamed her.<\/p>\n

In an interview with The Standard on Saturday, January 8, the lawmaker, who recently ditched United Democratic Alliance (UDA), disclosed that she was also insulted in a WhatsApp group where Ruto is a member. However, the DP did nothing.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometime back, in our UDA WhatsApp group, a section of the MPs body-shamed and insulted me, but the Deputy President remained silent, though he had read the messages,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n

Further, Ngirici claimed that there was a cartel in UDA that decides who runs for which seat and who speaks to the media.<\/p>\n

“If you have been keen, you will notice that not all politicians allied to UDA give TV, radio or newspaper interviews,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker also disclosed that she had not made up her mind on who to support among the presidential candidates seeking to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta.<\/p>\n

However, she claimed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, had made significant inroads in Central Kenya and reduced the margin between him and Ruto.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven if Ruto gets a higher number of votes in Mount Kenya in his presidential bid, he won\u2019t beat Raila by a big margin. His (Ruto’s) approval rating in Mount Kenya has reduced because of how he insults the region\u2019s political parties and his refusal to rein in on cartels who are running the show in UDA,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Ngirici, who was elected on a Jubilee Party ticket, ditched the party and had been traversing the country with Deputy President William Ruto, until December last year when she quit UDA.<\/p>\n

Addressing her supporters in Mwea Sub County on Thursday, December 30, Ngirici revealed that she ditched UDA after being summoned at the headquarters where she was asked to shelve her ambition for the incumbent Governor Anne Waiguru.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was summoned in Nairobi and told to go run as MP in Mwea Constituency and leave the seat for her, but I have said no,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n

She told her supporters that the UDA party ticket had been sold to the highest bidder and revealed that she would contest as an independent candidate.<\/p>\n
