AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong>\u00a0Kisumu Governor Anyang\u2019 Nyong\u2019o (pictured) has today shocked Kenyans in the latest reshuffle in his county government by appointing himself acting health county executive.In a statement dated March 20, Governor Nyong\u2019o announced new changes but named himself as one of the new executive pending a substantive appointment.<\/p>\n

“In the meantime, the Department of Health and Sanitation shall be managed by the governor himself before the appointment of a substantive a county executive member,” the statement reads in part.<\/p>\n

The governor said the appointments and the reshuffles he conducted were in order to improve service delivery in the county.After replacing the outgoing health executive Rosemary Obara in in May last year, newly appointed business and marketing executive Judith Miguda was expected to be confirmed but that was not to be as Miguda was handed a new docket.<\/p>\n

Miguda, a lecturer before her appointment has been acting for the last 10 months, but the problems bedeviling the sector have not disappeared with rampant strike by medics being witnessed.<\/p>\n

And with the new coronavirus pandemic, the governor could be trying to bring in the much needed leadership should the coronavirus situation worsen.Also named in the reshuffle include Joyce Osogo named to head roads, transport and public works.<\/p>\n

Nyong\u2019o in the statement described Osogo as a specialist in project planning and imp-lamentation with wide experience in the sector.”Osogo is a specialist in project planning and implementation and has wide experience in doing innovative work in diverse social sectors,\u201d read the<\/p>\n

Academic background<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prof Nyong\u2019o, currently, is a renowned academician as his title, \u2018Professor\u2019, says it, but not in the medicine field.Nyong\u2019o is a political scientist who graduated with a First Class honours degree from Makerere University where he studied political scienc<\/p>\n

He also became the first Kenyan to receive the First Class Honours Degree at the Faculty of Social Science, Department of Political Science at East Africa’s oldest institution of higher learning.Because of Nyong\u2019o outstanding performance, Makerere University annually organises a public lecture where he is invited to deliver a keynote address.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
