{"id":4954,"date":"2020-03-26T15:02:07","date_gmt":"2020-03-26T15:02:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/kenya\/?p=4954"},"modified":"2020-03-26T15:02:07","modified_gmt":"2020-03-26T15:02:07","slug":"fans-reaction-after-fifa-trashes-sports-disputes-tribunal-decision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/kenya\/sport\/fans-reaction-after-fifa-trashes-sports-disputes-tribunal-decision","title":{"rendered":"Fans reaction after FIFA trashes Sports Disputes Tribunal decision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> After world Football governing body FIFA on Wednesday, March 25 quashed a ruling made by Kenya\u2019s Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT) that saw the cancellation of FKF\u2019s repeat elections.<\/p>\n<p>The decision has divided football fans across the country with some lauding FIFA\u2019s decision and other crying fouls on the manner at which the football governing body dismissed SDT\u2019S ruling.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter sent to FKF Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barry Otieno dated Wednesday, March 25, FIFA spoke widely on several issues surrounding the aforementioned above.<\/p>\n<p>FIFA blamed FKF for subjecting itself to the SDT when it should not have, arguing the SDT is not recognised as the ultimate settlement medium at the national level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFKF statutes do not expressly recognize the jurisdiction of the SDT as being the ultimate arbitration forum at the national level. Moreover, we note that the SDT is not a national arbitration tribunal in the sense of FIFA circular 1010dated 20 December 2005. Despite the aforementioned, the FKF surprisingly subjected to the SDT by its own initiative while it was not obliged to so do as per its Statues,\u201d part of the statement highlighted.<\/p>\n<p>A faction led by FKF presidential hopefuls Lordvick Aduda poked holes on the FIFA directive blaming FIFA\u2019s Chief Member Associations Officer, Veron Mosengo-Omba for playing a key role in the trashing of the SDT decision by FIFA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has to be clear, because there are things that do not add up especially how FIFA has now turned around to trash the same SDT it has previously upheld its decisions,\u201d Lordvick Aduda, an aspirant in the FKF elections, said.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some of the reactions by fans on Twitter:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FIFA?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FIFA<\/a> has spoken. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Nmwendwa?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@Nmwendwa<\/a> is the official <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FKF?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FKF<\/a> president as it were and together with his NEC members they are mandated to run soccer in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Kenya?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Kenya<\/a>. FIFA does NOT recognize the SDT ruling which according to them has no legal effect.
