Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A dormitory at St Luke Kimilili Boys High School in Bungoma was on Monday evening destroyed by fire.<\/p>\n

The burnt dormitory, named Nabwala House, housed 198 students.<\/p>\n

The cause of the fire is still unknown.<\/p>\n

First responders including firefighters from the county government, students, neighbours, teachers and police officers arrived at the institution to help put the fire out.<\/p>\n

They used sand, twigs, water and other readily available materials to try and put out the raging fire before it could spread to other buildings.<\/p>\n

So far, no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the Star on Tuesday, school Principal Innocent Siro said the fire destroyed items belonging to 170 boys.<\/p>\n

He added that all boys are safe despite the small injuries they got while putting off the fire.<\/p>\n

Kimilili Sub-county police Commander Mwita Maroa said the cause of the fire is still unknown but hinted at a possible arson.<\/p>\n

He said that police have launched investigations into the cause of the fire.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred at around 5:40 PM when students were out for games break.<\/p>\n

The students with the help of teachers, neighbours and subordinate staff managed to put off the fire before the firefighting engine brigade arrived from Bungoma.<\/p>\n

This is not the first time fire is breaking out at the school.<\/p>\n
