AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> President Uhuru Kenyatta has empathised with Kenyans for not being able to celebrate their Easter holiday normally due to the restrictions by the government to curb the spread of coronavirus.<\/p>\n

In his Easter message to Kenyans on Friday, the Head of State\u00a0said he is aware most Kenyans would not be able to reunite with their families, due to the directives in place to contain the spread of coronavirus.”The circumstances under which we find ourselves during this year\u2019s Easter holiday are unusual.<\/p>\n

Our world is going through a period of intense trial due to the Covid-19 crisis. We have had to adopt unique measures which we hope will bring an end to the suffering caused by this global pandemic,” he said.President Uhuru asked Kenyans to reflect on the resurrection story and remember that all things, even suffering, would come to an end through unity and faith.<\/p>\n

“The present circumstance should not blind us to the spirit and intention of Easter and the message inherent in the resurrection of Jesus Christ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President\u00a0commended medics, researchers and security officers who have been on the front line to ensure the country tame the virus, adding that without their efforts, we would not be where we are in the fight against the virus.<\/p>\n

“Everyone is doing his or her part to the best of their ability and I must commend those who have given tirelessly their resources, skills, and expertise to help us get through this difficult period. I thank especially the researchers, doctors, nurses, clinical officers, emergency personnel and security teams who have been on the front lines of this fight. We would not be able to do it without you,” he said.<\/p>\n

He called for unity and resilience among Kenyans saying Covid-19 is a tough test for the country, but like the previous tests, Kenyans will pull through.” Kenyans have been tested many times before and we have always done what is necessary to pull through all difficulty and adversity. We have always found inspiration in ourselves and each other to find the sunshine after the storm,” he said.<\/p>\n

President Uhuru reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to fighting the virus adding that his administration will deploy all resources in its disposal to tame the diseases.<\/p>\n

He urged Kenyans to observe personal hygiene and keep the social distance as directed by the government to break the chain of infections in the country.\u00a0“Let us continue to observe good personal hygiene by washing hands and observing social distancing in our communities,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
