AfricaPress-Kenya:<\/strong> For any football fan in Kenya who understands the game as an art as well as a competition, it is impossible to have not enjoyed a match commentated on by one Peter Drury.<\/p>\n

Known for his prolific, poetic, and enchanting commentary, Drury is notorious for grabbling football audiences by their emotions from kick-off, a journey they\u2019ll only alight from after 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

With Drury behind the microphone, a football match is not an event but an experience.<\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Standard Digital and Game Yetu, Drury shared a message with Emmanuel Too.<\/p>\n

Drury asked Kenyans to obey government directives\u00a0\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The revered commentator asked Kenyans to obey government directives should the battle against coronavirus pandemic be conquered.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll over Kenya, keep safe, do all that your government is asking you to do (sanitize your hands, maintain social distance, wear a mask and always cough or sneeze into your elbow) keep safe and look after your loved ones,\u201d said Drury.<\/p>\n

He also weighed in on the Premier League debate and expressed optimism of a return to action.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, we will see. There is some talk that some sort of culmination to the English Premier League season, just might occur during the month perhaps of June, but nobody’s making any promises, so we can just all of us keep our fingers crossed and pray that at some stage the football we love so much will return,\u201d explained Drury.<\/p>\n

Drury spoke on the possibility of the English Premier League resuming in June\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Having made his name known to the world through his voice commentating, Drury admitted he had nothing to do professionally now that football has stopped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have nothing to do professionally. But I\u2019m not complaining, I am one of the lucky ones\u2026I am surrounded by family and I have nothing to complain about amid this pandemic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s is text of Drury\u2019s message:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cHello Kenya its Peter here from England, it\u2019s good to hear from you all I hope you\u2019re keeping safe and well in these very strange times. We are all looking forward to the return of football all over the world certainly we are here in England.<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m asked what I\u2019m doing with myself in the absence of football and the answer is that I don\u2019t have anything to do professionally. But I\u2019m not complaining, I\u2019m one of the lucky ones. I\u2019m surrounded by family, I have my health and I have nothing to complain about at all in the context of this horrible pandemic. So, don\u2019t you worry about me, I\u2019m more worried about you [chuckles].<\/em><\/p>\n

In terms of where football goes from here well, we will see. There is some talk that some sort of culmination to the English Premier League season just might occur during the month perhaps of June, but nobody\u2019s making any promises so we can just, all of us, keep our fingers crossed and pray that at some stage the football we love so much will return.<\/em><\/p>\n

But it can of course only return when it is safe and sensible for it to do so. And, when it\u2019s appropriate because, let\u2019s be honest with ourselves there are more important things going on in the world right now than football.<\/em><\/p>\n

But we look forward to it when it does come back, and I can\u2019t wait to be talking to you all again. So all over Kenya, my very best wishes to you. Keep safe, do everything your government is asking you to do, keep well and look after your loved ones. Take care, bye bye. \u201c<\/em><\/p>\n

According to the Telegraph in England, The EPL is tentatively expected to resume on June 1 with a view to completing the season over six weeks.<\/p>\n

This plan seeks to prevent any hiccups in kicking-off the 2021 title race in early August this year in accordance with FA calendar.<\/p>\n
