Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Voting is yet to start in Eldas, Wajir county, despite orders from Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission for the exercise to continue on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The voting did not happen on Tuesday due to delays in the arrival of ballot papers.<\/p>\n

Residents were already on the queue early in the morning but no IEBC official or police officers were present.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the residents anticipated to vote but because of the hindrances, they were directed to vote on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

However, the officer in charge cleared the speculations that there were security problems, but said transportation of ballot boxes to polling stations was a major problem.<\/p>\n

Residents say they are worried that what happened yesterday will reoccur today, and they will not be able to vote.<\/p>\n

On Monday, at least two police officers were injured when al-Shabaab militants launched a motor attack on a police station in Wajir county.<\/p>\n

Another group ambushed and burnt three vehicles and five motorcycles in coordinated attacks in the Konton area.<\/p>\n

It was said the incidents were likely to affect the planned polls on August 9, police said.<\/p>\n

Locals and police said a group of militants had invaded the area and launched attacks targeting security agents and locals.<\/p>\n

The injured officers were evacuated to a nearby hospital for attention, police said.<\/p>\n
