Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Giant killers Africa Nazarene University (ANU) coach Mike Oluoch is concerned about his team’s fitness levels ahead of the Kenya National Basketball League (KNBL) that resumes next week.<\/p>\n

He said he can’t talk much about the two fixtures because his players have not returned from the break occasioned by the National General Elections.<\/p>\n

“My players are not back. We have not trained for more than two weeks but I expect players this week before resuming training next week,” Oluoch said.<\/p>\n

He termed their next opponents\u2014Equity Bank Dumas and Storms\u2013 very trick as league action returns on August 27.<\/p>\n

“If the players come back, hopefully, this week, then I will be able to gauge the team’s strength before the next assignment. As of now, It is hard to talk,” he said.<\/p>\n

The debuting “Wolfpacks” who stunned leaders Kenya Ports Authority are third on the log behind the porters and Ulinzi Warriors with 14 points.<\/p>\n

Oluoch has his focus on a top-eight finish for a team who gained promotion to the country’s top-tier only this year.<\/p>\n

According to the fixtures released by Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) competition secretary, Joseph Amoko yesterday, a total of 16 matches are on card in all categories.<\/p>\n

Eight of the matches on programme are premier league ties with the rest of them being lower division meetings.<\/p>\n

Equity Bank Dumas will battle the former champions Ulinzi in the top-of-the-bill action at Nyayo Stadium gymnasium.<\/p>\n

In the other games, Umoja will travel to Kisumu and Eldoret, where they will face off against home teams Lakeside and Eldonets.<\/p>\n

University of Nairobi teams also have matches but Dynamites’ coach Juma Kent said they were directed to resume play next month.<\/p>\n

Dynamites have two games on programme against Zetech University Sparks and Equity Bank Hawks while Terrorists have a date with Zetech University Titans.<\/p>\n
