Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae maintained that IEBC conducted free and fair elections.<\/p>\n

He said there is no need to \u2018crucify\u2019 the Independent Electoral and Boundaries chairman Wafula Chebukati and the commissioners.<\/p>\n

\u201cA referee does not expect to be liked, we are taking things far as a country. A tense populace and an overreacting political class is a recipe for disaster,\u201d Wamae said.<\/p>\n

Wamae spoke to the Star on phone on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cKenyans msikubali kubleed ndio tulead, tudumishe Amani(Don’t bleed for them to lead embrace peace),\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said in the past four elections cycle, there had been the trend that when one doesn\u2019t win the election, the referee is to blame.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe IEBC delivered a free, fair and transparent election and the will of the people was exercised. Now that \u2018servers\u2019 have been opened, the people shouldn\u2019t condemn duly elected leaders calling them \u2018vifaranga vya computer\u2019,\u201d Wamae said.<\/p>\n

Wamae said looking into the future, she hopes Kenyan\u2019s elections systems, procedures and processes will be more straightforward.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will not need agents on the ground. Kenya belongs to all of us, we shouldn\u2019t be tensed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She said also called for the establishment of a complete digital voting system to minimise disgruntlement once the final presidential tally is announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo avoid murder and profiling, what if we had an account like the KRA iTax for every registered voter to votes online or via USSD instead of what we have now?\u201d Wamae asked.<\/p>\n

Wamae also urged Kenyans to demand more ideology instead tribal inclinations from the politicians.<\/p>\n

She said Kenyans should ignore the warring politicians who have issues with the August 9 presidential results and move on as a country.<\/p>\n

Machakos Deputy Governor-elect Francis Mwangangi also said Kenya should work towards ensuring that elections are not a security threat or source of disunity.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we should embrace technology and conduct transparent and credible elections. Our judicial system and the process should always be a source of justice for those seeking it,\u201d Mwangangi on Friday.<\/p>\n
