Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Nairobi MCAs allied to the Azimio La Umoja One have solidified their support behind the coalition, assuring they cannot be \u2018bought\u2019 to join Kenya Kwanza.<\/p>\n

Led by Minority Whip Peter Imwatok, they said they are fully in the coalition under the leadership of its presidential candidate Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

\u201cAzimio is a united house. Azimio -One Kenya Alliance is intact in Nairobi. We are held together by principles and unwavering support for our Coalition leadership,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday declared Deputy President William Ruto as the president-elect.<\/p>\n

Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes representing 50.49 per cent of the total vote, while his rival, Raila Odinga got 6,942,930, which was 48.85 per cent of the total vote.<\/p>\n

However, Raila rejected the declaration of Ruto as President-elect, terming it null and void.<\/p>\n

The ODM Party leader declined to openly state his strategy but promised robust legal and political battles to overturn the results, insisting the results could not stand.<\/p>\n

The newly elected Nairobi MCAs also assured that they are ready and willing to stand by Raila as he heads to the Supreme Court over the presidential results that were announced on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Azimio MCAs, we fully support all the decisions that have so far been taken by our leaders led by Raila, Martha Karua and Kalonzo Musyoka and we shall stand with them in this journey as we await the Supreme Court Decision,\u201d Imwatok added.<\/p>\n

The MCAs said they are ‘Baba\u2019s soldiers’ and pledged their unwavering support to Raila, putting on notice anyone who might be thinking that Azimio\u2019s hard-won victory will be taken away easily.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to defend Baba to the last man. In the meantime, we shall wait for the decision of the Supreme Court and other Constitutional processes. We urge our supporters in the City to remain calm as we await our leaders\u2019 directions,\u201d Imwatok stated.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the city legislators refuted claims that there are cracks and differences among themselves.<\/p>\n

Mihang\u2019o MCA Paul Kados stamped authority and said all the 45 MCAs allied to Azimio are united and the public should not listen to rumours.<\/p>\n

\u201c There is none of us who is even thinking of decamping from Azimio. We are united and strong behind our coalition leaders,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In addition, Kados also stated that all the MCAs were waiting to be sworn in and ready to start working.<\/p>\n

Azimio Coalition will be the majority coalition in Nairobi with 45 elected Members followed by Kenya Kwanza which is a minority with 36 elected Members.<\/p>\n

There are two MCAs elected on independent tickets.<\/p>\n

To add to Azimio\u2019s advantage, there are two (2) pending elections in two (2) Wards which are within its strongholds.<\/p>\n
