Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Newly-appointed Posta Rangers head coach, John Kamau, reckons the club boasts sufficient depth to charge effectively for next season’s Kenyan Premier League title.<\/p>\n

Kamau, who is returning to the club for a second spell at the helm, signed a one-year contract last week. He joins the mailmen from relegated Mathare United where he was appointed in the second half of the preceding season.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe already have some talented players who can be called upon to fight for the title. We only need to plug a few key areas in all the departments and we shall be able to record an improved performance from last season,\u201d Kamau said.<\/p>\n

Kamau’s stellar career on the topflight stage took off at Thika United as a goalkeeper. He then courted coaching in 2010 when he was appointed to polish up the club’s goalkeeping department.<\/p>\n

Kamau was later named coach of the club\u2019s junior side and assistant coach to the senior side, where he deputised Juma Abdalla. He guided Thika United’s academy side to the KPL Under-19 title.<\/p>\n

In December 2014, Kamau left the club for KPL debutants Posta Rangers following the expiry of Sammy \u2018Pamzo\u2019 Omolo\u2019s contract as the mailmen’s gaffer.<\/p>\n

He left the mailmen in 2018 after landing a role at Kenya Commercial Bank, who were then fighting for promotion in the second tier.<\/p>\n

Kamau replaced Leonard Saleh who parted ways with the team at the end of the 2017 season after failing to attain their objective of gaining promotion back to the top tier.<\/p>\n

At the start of the 2020\/2021 season, Kamau was named assistant coach at Wazito where he deputised Francis Kimanzi.<\/p>\n

His stay there was short-lived after Wazito sent the entire technical bench parking following a torrid season.<\/p>\n

In January 2022, Mathare United named him their new head coach, where he took over from Ezekiel Akwana who was sacked following a string of poor results.<\/p>\n
