Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana on Tuesday joined Kenya Kwanza team.<\/p>\n

In a statement, President-elect William Ruto welcomed him to the Kenya Kwanza team, saying he will join the legal team in the ongoing presidential election petition.<\/p>\n

“We associate with the leadership that Kivutha Kibwana, he has manifested in agreeing to work with us in furthering our country\u2019s development agenda,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The former governor was accompanied by other leaders.<\/p>\n

Kibwana had served Makueni residents for two terms as the governor and launched his senatorial bid to replace Mutula Kilonzo.<\/p>\n

He flopped the senatorial seat and lost to Wiper party Dan Maanzo.<\/p>\n

The outgoing governor was vying on the Muungano Party ticket.<\/p>\n

His move to join Ruto comes days after a number of elected leaders and influential groups decamped to Ruto’s camp after he was declared the winner of the August 9 presidential election.<\/p>\n

Ruto gained a majority of independent MPs elect including Joshua Mbithi (Masinga), Njoroge Elijah (Gatundu North), Caroline Ngelechei (Elgeyo Markwet) and Rahim Dawood (Imenti North).<\/p>\n

Others included, Timothy Kipchumba (Markwet West), Ntutu Kitilai (Narok South), and Monica Muthoni (Lamu Woman Rep).<\/p>\n

He also recently bagged independent Meru governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza.<\/p>\n

Kenya Kwanza and Azimio are both fighting to have the majority of parliamentary representatives on their side.<\/p>\n
