Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>World 800m bronze medalist Mary Moraa, 2019 world 3000m steeplechase champion Beatrice Chepkoech and world 10,000m silver medalist Stanley Waithaka will be among the elite athletes to grace the Brussels Diamond League set for September 2.<\/p>\n

Waithaka, who is also the 2018 WU-20 5000m silver medalist, will compete in the 5000m, where he will face Uganda\u2019s Oscar Chelimo. The Ugandan won bronze in the 12-and-a-half lap race in Oregon in July. So far, only the two athletes have confirmed participation in the event.<\/p>\n

Waithaka has a personal best time of 13:05:21, which he ran in 2019 in Belgium while Chelimo’s PB is 13:06:79 posted in Italy last year.<\/p>\n

In the 400m race, Moraa will race against world 4x400m silver medalist Dutch Lieke Klaver and three-time national champion Cynthia Bolingo of Belgium.<\/p>\n

Moraa has had a stellar season, winning 800m bronze at the World Championships in Oregon and gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this month.<\/p>\n

Moraa has a personal best time of 50.84 in 400m while Klaver has a PB of 50.18, making her the fastest among the three. On her part, Bolingo has a PB of 50.29 posted last year in France.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am delighted to announce my next race will be Brussels Diamond League and I will be seeking to lower my 400m PB. This will give me a good opportunity to gauge myself ahead of my final race of the season,\u201d Moraa posted on her Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Chepkoech on her part will be up against two-time national champion Werkuha Getachew and two-time Asian champion Winfred Yavi. Chepkoech has been slowed down by injuries this season but feels things have started looking up.<\/p>\n

She has a personal best time of 8:44.32, which is a world record, which she ran at the Monaco Diamond League Meeting in 2018.<\/p>\n

She will face Getachew (PB 8:54.61) and Yavi (PB8:56.55). Getachew won bronze at the global show in Oregon.<\/p>\n
