Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Strathmore University Blades coach Tony Ochieng is counting on his charges to start on a flying note when the league resumes this week.<\/p>\n

The tactician is convinced the students will put up a top-notch performance when they welcome Lakeside in Nairobi next week.<\/p>\n

“From the games, we have already played so far, we have identified the areas that need to be sharpened.<\/p>\n

“The team’s performance in the paint and three points shooting is ok, but improvement is needed in as far as game control and efficiency are concerned.<\/p>\n

“We have been doing well on the paint and three points shooting and hope to perform even better.<\/p>\n

“However, rotation remains key to posting good performances and all the players are ready for the task.<\/p>\n

“He said the break has affected his players’ form as well as their fitness level but believes a week work out will help them shape up.<\/p>\n

“The good thing is that most of my players remain sharp as they have been engaged in pick-up games in their estates,” he said.<\/p>\n

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) fixtures secretary, Joseph Amoko, said the league will once again spill over to next year.<\/p>\n

He said the United States International University (USIU) and University of Nairobi courts are unavailable for now and getting alternative venues is difficult.<\/p>\n

“We are already running late and the issues of match venues are not making things easier for me either,” Amoko lamented.<\/p>\n

The USIU courts he said are undergoing renovations while the UoN ones can only be accessed later when the institution opens.<\/p>\n

“It’s been difficult. But I can confirm that I’ve managed to secure the YMCA Shauri Moyo courts for Saturday games,” said Amoko, adding, “I am still looking for a venue to host the Sunday matches. Once I am successful, I will alert the teams.”<\/p>\n

There are 22 matches on the card this weekend with the main fixture being a top of the pick tie pitting Equity Bank against Ulinzi Warriors.<\/p>\n
