Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>A 25-year-old boda boda rider has been killed for allegedly stealing his neighbor’s goat in Homa Bay Town constituency.<\/p>\n

Joshua Olela was killed at Kapita estate in Homa Bay town on Friday night allegedly by man who accused him of stealing his goat.<\/p>\n

It was reported that the Olela stole the goat from the young man at Kamakori village early this week.<\/p>\n

The goat owner is said to have carried out enquiry and discovered that Olela stole the goat and sold it to a butchery operator at Makongeni estate in Homa Bay town.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe owner of the goat waylaid Olela and stabbed him in the stomach using a knife. He died following the injuries,\u201d a resident said.<\/p>\n

Residents said Olela was asked why he stole and sold the goat but he denied the accusation.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s reported that the two engaged in a physical fighting before the suspect stabbed him.<\/p>\n

Homa Bay Township Location Senior Chief Joshua Ochogo said efforts of residents to rescue Olela by taking him to hospital proved futile.<\/p>\n

\u201cResidents tried to rescue him but he was already overwhelmed by the serious injuries sustained in the assault,\u201d Ochogo said.<\/p>\n

The administrator arrested the suspect and handed him to police at Homa Bay Police Station where he has been detained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect has already been taken the police station where he is being detained for legal action,\u201d Ochogo said.<\/p>\n

Ochogo urged residents to avoid taking the law into their hands and instead they should abide by legal procedure when aggrieved.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet residents report to government security agencies when they have any grievances instead of taking the law into their hands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The body was moved to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital mortuary.<\/p>\n
