Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Security officials in Ndhiwa on Friday destroyed 3,860 liters of illicit brews, also known as kangara<\/b>, at Kakula village in Kanyamwa Kologi ward.<\/p>\n

In an operation led by police boss Enos Nyawade of Kobodo Division, the security officials found the illicit brews in a four acre sugarcane plantation.<\/p>\n

They acted after getting a tip off from some members of that there was brewing of an outlawed alcohol in the plantation.<\/p>\n

Nyawade and other assistant chiefs raided the place and found the brew den.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe destroyed the brews by pouring them down. We also confiscated the containers used for brewing them,\u201d Nyade said.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Saturday, Nyawade said they destroyed the liquor to discourage preparation and consumption of illicit brews in the area.<\/p>\n

However, the suspects implicated in preparation of the brews fled prior to arrival of the security officers.<\/p>\n

Residents were warned against engaging in outlawed businesses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems they were informed before the raid. But we will not relent in fighting illicit brews,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The administrator said they have mapped up areas and people who involved in illegal businesses adding that they will be arrested should they fail to stop.<\/p>\n

He warned residents against taking advantage of large sugarcane farms in Ndhiwa to start propagating illegal business in them.<\/p>\n

Nyawade said perpetrators will not escape from facing legal actions, adding that crackdown will continue to zero-rate brewing of illicit brews.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re asking residents to continue working closely with security officers to enable us have a society and people with good morals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
