Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Vihiga Queens’ head coach Boniface Nyamunyamu said they are set to defend their title despite losing some of their key players recently.<\/p>\n

“There is nothing to worry about and we can’t wait for the league to resume,” he said in an interview.<\/p>\n

Nyamunyamu said they are currently putting their final touches on preparations and will be ready not only to compete but also to defend their title.<\/p>\n

He admitted that at some point they will need to recruit strikers but exuded confidence that they can still do with the squad they have.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been looking around for strikers but we are yet to settle on any. However, that should not be a reason for us not to perform,” Nyamunyamu said.<\/p>\n

The club has seen the exit of their key strikers Jentrix Shikangwa, Topista Situma and Tereza Engesha who left for the green pasture abroad.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe departure of the three is a blow but I am confident that we will survive. The secret here is to work hard and ensure we stay afloat,\u201d the tactician noted.<\/p>\n

Speaking at Mumboha grounds in Luanda town, where he is on a scouting mission, he said it is a race against time as he seeks to maintain the team’s standards in the next season.<\/p>\n

He said if worse comes to worst, they will have to do with Agnes Olesi and Emmaculate Wangila, who have been warning the bench at the county-sponsored club.<\/p>\n

He noted: \u201cThe two are yet to sharpen their skills but in case we go blunt we shall have no choice but to shift Enez Mango and Phoebe Owiti to their initial striking roles\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Currently, the two are serving in the defence although the head coach feels he has enough manpower to take up the backline role.<\/p>\n
