Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Olympic Games 800m champion Emmanuel Korir leads the Kenyan field to Brussels Diamond League on Friday.<\/p>\n

Korir has had a mixed season despite winning the world 800m title in Oregon. He has a personal best time of 1:42:05, which he ran during the 2018 London M\u00fcller Anniversary Games.<\/p>\n

However, Korir did not have an easy time during the Monaco meeting, finishing 12th at 2:18:19.<\/p>\n

The two-time Diamond League Final winner will be in the company of Kenyan compatriot Ferguson Rotich.<\/p>\n

Rotich has a personal best time of 1:42:54 which he ran in Monaco in 2018. He is the Olympics 800m silver medalist, a title he won in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

The two Kenyans will have a hard time due to the stiff competition, which awaits them in Brussels. They will have the world 1,500m champion, Jake Wightman, to contend with in the two-lap race.<\/p>\n

The Briton has had a stellar performance this season winning 1,500m gold at the World Championships in Oregon and silver in the same specialty at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.<\/p>\n

He also bagged silver in the 800m at the just concluded European Championships. He has a personal best time of 1:44:18 in 800m which he ran in Ostrava in 2020.<\/p>\n

World 800m silver medalist Canadian Marco Arop will also be in the mix as he seeks to spoil Kenya’s party. The Canadian, who has a personal best time of 1:43:26, placed second in 1000m in 2:14.35 during the Monaco meeting.<\/p>\n

Algeria\u2019s Djamel Sedjati will be another threat going by his silver medal feat at the World Championships in Oregon. Sedjati, who has a personal best time of 1:43:69, is ranked position 15 in the men\u2019s 800m.<\/p>\n

European 800m champion Mariano Garcia will also be in the race, hoping to build upon his successful outing at the European Championships. The Spaniard has a personal best time of 1:44:85.<\/p>\n
