Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kalyet Boys handball coach Brenda Kadi Ruto is now looking beyond the regional games after dominating Uasin Gishu County secondary school games over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Ruto said her realistic target is the national championships if not the East Africa Games. Kalyet beat Arnesens 13-08 in the final to earn a place in the regional show set for this Wednesday in Nakuru.<\/p>\n

She said she was elated to fly the county’s flag at the regional show considering she lost the final during the 2020 edition just before the coronavirus pandemic set in.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur win against Arnesens was sweet revenge. Our opponents in the final have been stubborn since we started these championships and I am happy we overcame them.<\/p>\n

“We are not stopping at the regional. I am sure with a little bit of hard work, we will go all the way to the East Africa show,\u201d said Ruto.<\/p>\n

In the semifinals, the handball champions were 12-09 winners against Ngoisa while Arnesens beat Cheptegit 22-16. In the girls\u2019 handball, Ngeny beat Ngoisa 6-5 in the final to earn the slot.<\/p>\n

Ngeny beat Bishop Birech 3-1 to sail through while Ngoisa were 12-08 winners over Barekeiywo in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

In football, Arnesens and Moi Girls were crowned the champions in boys and girls categories played at the Kapsoya Boys and Moi Girls, Eldoret respectively.<\/p>\n

Arnesens were 4-1 winners against Kimumu boys in the final. Eugene Ambani grabbed a brace while Felix Were and Brian Kiplimo scored a goal each.<\/p>\n

Arnesens’ coach Gilbert Lel said they are ready for the regional games that have attracted 14 counties with a single slot up for grabs.<\/p>\n

In the girls’ category, Moi Girls took advantage of the home advantage to humiliate Ngeria High 6-1. Moi Girls coach Robert Simiyu said their target is to go all the way to the East Africa championships.<\/p>\n

In the volleyball boys, Tuiyo High trounced Kosachei 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 25-19, 25-19) while the girl\u2019s title was won by New Light School, who beat Chuiyat High School 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-11).<\/p>\n

In girls’ basketball, Moi Girls High defeated Testimony Secondary 22-10 while Uasin Gishu won the boys’ cadre after hammering Arnesens 35-16.<\/p>\n
