Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The director of communications in President-elect, William Ruto\u2019s campaign team, Hussein Mohamed has termed his boss\u2019 victory as battle for Kenya’s soul.<\/p>\n

He said Ruto\u2019s victory in the August 9 presidential election is a win for democracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are testimony that all is possible if we fully apply ourselves. This is a win for all the people of Kenya. This is a win for democracy,” he said.<\/p>\n

In January, Ruto appointed the former Citizen TV news anchor as head of communications for his campaign team.<\/p>\n

Hussein, in an interview said the president-elect\u2019s personal brilliance and practical promise of the bottom-up economic policy is what attracted him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m also drawn to his work ethic. He is constantly working, from very early in the morning till late at night. Plus, he genuinely cares about people who struggle to make a living and rewards effort,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Hussein further said he was amazed by Ruto\u2019s generosity and helping hand .<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is generous too, we have seen him help people he doesn\u2019t know, and many for that matter, and I remember him telling me years back after an interview with him, when a colleague requested for some assistance from him, that if he can help someone in anyway because of the office he holds, then he will never hesitate, as long as its legal, because he knows where he came from.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hussein also described Ruto as a firm and courageous individual, a quality that he personally admires and one which is sorely needed in the leadership of our country.<\/p>\n

On August 15, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Ruto the President-elect after he defeated Raila and two other candidates in the poll on August 9.<\/p>\n

Ruto had garnered 7.1 million votes while Raila Odinga garnered 6.9 million.<\/p>\n

However, his fierce competitor Raila Odinga of the Azimio la Umoja One coalition rejected the results terming them “null and void” and promised a bruising battle at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

He filed a petition at the Supreme Court challenging Ruto\u2019s win but the petition was dismissed.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court on Monday led by Chief Justice Martha Koome affirmed Ruto’s victory.<\/p>\n
