Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Embakasi East MP Paul Ogili alias Babu Owino has said members of the Azimio La Umoja coalition will continue being a voice to the voiceless despite losing the presidential elections.<\/p>\n

The legislator on Monday said the defeat was not final for them.<\/p>\n

He said in future they will get the victory they have been yearning for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that we are still hurting but we must soldier on as a family. We will continue being a voice to the voiceless, we will champion for your rights,\u201d Owino said.<\/p>\n

The second term MP was among the Azimio supporters who first sent messages suggesting that the Azimio coalition had lost the presidential petition ahead of the verdict.<\/p>\n

In his message, he said, Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga will forever be his hero despite what he termed as foul play in the litigation process.<\/p>\n

\u201cBaba you will forever be my hero. They played you, all was a long con. We live to fight another day,\u201d he tweeted.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld William Ruto’s election as the fifth President.<\/p>\n

Reading the verdict, Chief Justice Martha Koome said Ruto garnered 50 per cent plus one required for one to win the presidency.<\/p>\n

According to results announced by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati, Ruto garnered 7,176,141 votes (50.49 per cent), defeating Azimio flagbearer Raila Odinga who had 6,942,930 votes, representing (48.85 per cent).<\/p>\n

Of the 47 counties, Ruto garnered more than 25 per cent of the votes cast in 39, exceeding the minimum 24 counties required by the Constitution. Raila achieved 25 per cent of the votes cast in 34 counties.<\/p>\n
