Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Renown activist, Boniface Mwangi now claims that Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga lost because of betrayal and deceit.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Tuesday, Mwangi said he supported Raila and his running mate Martha Karua because he believed in their ideology and they deserved to run the country.<\/p>\n

He added that he is not worried that they lost the August 9 presidential election.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m not worried. Not at all. I supported Raila and Martha who l believed deserved to run Kenya but they lost. Why they lost is a long story of deceit and betrayal,” Mwangi said.<\/p>\n

The activist went ahead to question if Kenyans will be fine, going forward, stating that each time he has been arrested he was fighting for their rights and not his.<\/p>\n

“I have never been beaten or arrested fighting for myself, it\u2019s always for other people\u2019s rights. I will be fine. Will you?”<\/p>\n

Mwangi’s words come a day after the Supreme Court of Kenya in a unanimous decision upheld the election of William Ruto as the fifth President of Kenya.<\/p>\n

The decision followed a petition by Raila and Karua who termed the election a sham by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.<\/p>\n

They accused the IEBC of ‘allowing foreigners to choose a president’ for the people of Kenya.<\/p>\n

The highest court in the land, however, said Raila and six other petitioners did not give evidence of their claims.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court had initially received received nine petitions, eight of which challenged Ruto’s victory while one supported his victory.<\/p>\n

Seven petitions were then consolidated into one, with two being dismissed.<\/p>\n
