Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Tudor MCA-elect Samir Baloo and his bodyguard Abdul Mohamed have been charged with five election offences in Mombasa court.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Thursday by the Director of Public Prosecution, Noordin Haji, the two denied all the charges.<\/p>\n

They were each released on Sh40,000 cash bail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were charged with destroying election materials, use of violence and having counter foil ballot papers,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n

They were also charged with removing materials from a polling station without authority and assault.<\/p>\n

Baloo and Abdul appeared before Chief Magistrate Josphat Kalo.<\/p>\n

The court however differed plea taking for one Omar Hahmud alias Shallo to September 15.<\/p>\n

Shallo was a United Democratic Alliance candidate for the Mvita parliamentary seat.<\/p>\n

However, he lost to ODM\u2019s Mohamed Machele.<\/p>\n

Violence during the election day started after voters supporting different political camps engaged each other before police intervened.<\/p>\n
