Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>National Cereals and Produce Board pounded Desert Scorpions 50-22 in a Kenya Handball League clash at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The champions, who have not lost any of their matches, strolled to an easy 22-11 goal margin at halftime.<\/p>\n

A beaming millers team manager Boniface Macharia said there are no easy games in the league and they will treat all matches the same way.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes we won, but we can do better than that. We want to score as many goals possible because we are aware it will count in the end. The offense is good but there are some areas we need to improve on before our next game against Strathmore University,\u201d Macharia said.<\/p>\n

NCPB, who bagged four points to extend their unbeaten run, also thumped Technical University of Kenya (TUK) 44-19.<\/p>\n

Timothy Kirimi led the scoring chart with 10 goals, Snox Collins (nine), Peter Omondi (eight) while Brian Wakiayia and Robert Maranga each posted six.<\/p>\n

The debuting Scorpions had five from Frederick Lwemba and four each from Benson Mutinda and Jones Omollo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it was stage-fright since we were only playing our first match of the season,\u201d Scorpions coach Martin Ochieng said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a team playing their first game, the margin was good and I believe we will improve a lot in our next games.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ulinzi disarmed Black Mamba 23-17 in a tough encounter. The soldiers led 8-6 at the breather.<\/p>\n

. Kevin led Ulinzi with five goals as Nicholas Ireri and Frank Kiplangat each picked up four. Paul Mondara had six and William Malui four for Mamba.<\/p>\n

In the ladies’ tie, Kenyatta University made it a sweet weekend, coming from behind at the break to hit Nairobi City County (NCC) 26-18. Colyne Wabuko managed nine goals and Claire Wanioni six for the students who trailed 10-9 at intermission.<\/p>\n

“Because of the long holidays, we started on a low and gave our opponents hope in the first half. But upon resumption, we showed improvements,” KU coach Robert Osano said.<\/p>\n

“We trained for only two days but in about two weeks, we will get better once all the players are available.”<\/p>\n

KU had walloped New Hope 43-7 as Claire Wanyonyi recorded 13 goals. The men’s side also blanked Thika 34-29 in their league opener.<\/p>\n
