Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The Kenya Sports Stakeholders Forum has called on President-elect William Ruto to consider an individual with a proven track record in the industry while picking his Cabinet Secretary for Sports.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a press conference on Sunday, the stakeholders, led by Abdul Aziz Beneah, claimed there are situations when the industry has been left behind due to lack of a voice within the government.<\/p>\n

“As you embark on the new journey of creating an all-inclusive government that will cut across the political divide, we in the sports industry humbly appeal to you to consider someone with a proven track record in sports management, professionalism, full of integrity and passion for sports right from the grassroots level,” said Beneah.<\/p>\n

” With your new government, we look forward to seeing a corruption-free sports industry that will thrive under your stewardship.”<\/p>\n

The stakeholders said they are tired of seeing the industry play second fiddle to other sectors. “We have seen situations where the sports ministry is allocated some money only for it to be diverted to other spheres while those involved rarely make a fuss about it,” said Beneah.”<\/p>\n

“Our inspiration is to have a voice in this matter as opposed to making noise once an individual is appointed. An individual with economic and social perspective as well as an understanding of the grassroots challenges within the industry would be a perfect fit.”<\/p>\n

Hans Giteru added:” If we get someone who is disciplined, this hue and cry of mismanagement and corruption in sports will come to an end since the young men and women will be able to get self employed.”<\/p>\n
