Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Leaders from Ukambani have said they are ready to work with President-elect William Ruto.<\/p>\n

The elected leaders included Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Woman Representative Joyce Kamene, Senator Agnes Kavindu and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a new President for the Republic of Kenya, the one who will be sworn in on Tuesday. We will work with the President,\u201d Ndeti said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must work with the President so that our people can benefit. I am sure Machakos residents have given me the green light to work with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

She spoke during a burial ceremony in Mwala, Machakos county, on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Ndeti thanked the church and residents for supporting and voting for her as the second Machakos governor.<\/p>\n

She urged them to pray for her so that God gives her knowledge, wisdom, understanding, patience and good health to work for them.<\/p>\n

Ndeti said she will deliver to Machakos residents and ensure that their livelihoods are improved.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know with God\u2019s grace, all will be possible,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Kavindu said they have accepted Ruto\u2019s victory and it is time for him to fulfil all the promises he made to Kenyans during the campaigns.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce he is sworn in, he should reduce maize flour to Sh100, fuel, and look into plights of boda boda operators and mama mbogas. Let him fulfil his promises,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Speaking elsewhere in his constituency, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau said Azimio allied leaders are ready to work with Ruto without defecting to Kenya Kwanza.<\/p>\n

“Some experiences in politics are humbling. We were in a friendly match in which we as Azimio lost terribly. We have to forge forward united as Kenyans and we will have to work with Ruto. I also want to assure Kenyans that as Wiper leaders, we will be a very strong opposition,” he said.<\/p>\n

Makau said Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga stood a chance of winning if he had picked Kalonzo as his running mate.<\/p>\n

“Every Kenyan now knows that Kalonzo is not a joker. He delivered votes for Azimio and proved to be the Ukambani kingpin. Kalonzo was the best bet to give the Azimio coalition victory,” Makau said.<\/p>\n

Wambua said it was time to convert the talks into action as the country moves forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cA time has come that we must convert these talks into actions. All governments since independence have said the same thing to our people. Water promises, and whenever they say it, we clap for them and that\u2019s over. A promise and a clap but no water,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Wambua said he hopes Ruto’s administration will take the water problem, especially in the region, seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor now we have been assigned the roles of opposition, unless otherwise directed. We are in the opposition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cResources should be distributed equally. If that doesn\u2019t happen, we in the opposition will call a spade a spade. We shall raise the alarm for equitable distribution of government resources and funds without fear or favour. All the money that is in this country belongs to the people of Kenya.\u201d<\/p>\n

The senator said Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka remains the Kamba kingpin.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Kambas, we want respect and those who want to walk with Kambas must show respect to our leader. The only inlet of talking to our people is through Kalonzo Musyoka. Let them come tell us what they want to talk about that has never been spoken about. We shall speak about water problem in this region,\u201d Wambua said.<\/p>\n
