Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Similar to his political mentor, late President Daniel Moi, President-elect William Ruto has settled on a green presidential standard.<\/p>\n

Moi\u2019s was green with a red cockerel, however, it is not certain for Ruto, whether there shall be a wheelbarrow sign.<\/p>\n

Green is also one of UDA’s colours.<\/p>\n

The presidential standard or presidential flag is the flag that is used in many countries as a symbol of the head of state.<\/p>\n

In some countries, it may be for the exclusive use of the president or only raised where the president is present.<\/p>\n

However, in Kenya, the Presidential Standard is designed by the President-elect.<\/p>\n

It symbolises power and represents the Commander-in-Chief.<\/p>\n

It is designed and made to the President-elect\u2019s liking by the Kenya Defence Force.<\/p>\n

Details of the other symbols that shall be contained in the flag have not yet been revealed.<\/p>\n

However, it shall contain two crossed spears and a shield bearing the colours of the national flag.<\/p>\n

These two symbolise unity and readiness to defend the country\u2019s freedom.<\/p>\n

Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta had a blue one which was an inspiration from the founding President the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta( dark blue standard).<\/p>\n

For Uhuru, he added a dove symbol-The National Alliance party symbol while his father\u2019s yellow cockerel was the Kenya African National Union party symbol.<\/p>\n

Kenya\u2019s third President, the late Mwai Kibaki\u2019s Presidential Standard was white, adorned with a shield in the centre bearing the Kenya national colours between two olive branches which signified peace.<\/p>\n

The Presidential Standard will be unveiled at Kasarani stadium on Tuesday when the new president will be sworn in to take over from his boss Uhuru Kenyatta who has served for two terms.<\/p>\n

During his campaign, Ruto portrayed himself as the champion of the poor in the country referring to himself as the \u2018Hustler\u2019 hence the choice of a wheelbarrow as his Party\u2019s symbol.<\/p>\n
