Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>President-elect William Ruto has assured Kenyans that his promises would be fulfilled and there should be nothing to worry about.<\/p>\n

Ruto, who spoke at Maya Stadium, Meru, during a thanksgiving ceremony, said he looks forward to a day when Kenyans would not be overburdened.<\/p>\n

The President-elect said he will complete all stalled projects in Meru county, some of which he said had become white elephants.<\/p>\n

On miraa markets, the President-elect said he is engaging Somalia President Hassan Sheikh for enhanced bilateral trade for the crop.<\/p>\n

He said once he takes oath of office, the Hustler National Plan to uplift the lives of Kenyans must be effected.<\/p>\n

“Leave miraa cartels for me. I have a meeting this week with Somalia President to fast track on miraa markets. Miraa farmers should never be worried, I will deal with all brokers and cartels,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The President-elect thanked God and Kenyans for his victory against what he termed as the ‘deep state’.<\/p>\n

He said that he longs for a time when Kenyans would not have to borrow.<\/p>\n

The President-elect is set to be sworn in on Tuesday as the country’s fifth president.<\/p>\n

“I am taking over a country with a big debt and our economy is not in good stature. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging. China saves 57 per cent of its GDP while Kenya saves 7 per cent of our GDP. I encourage everyone to promote a culture of saving,” Ruto said.<\/p>\n

The outgoing deputy president said he would lead by example in paying taxes as he urged Kenyans to do their part by paying taxes.<\/p>\n

The President appeared to send a warning to private firms and individuals said to be evading paying taxes because of political protection.<\/p>\n

He has previously accused the state of selective crackdown on tax offenders, saying there should be a uniform approach for all people to pay taxes due.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ruto promised to proceed with the Jubilee administration’s Big Four Agenda of creating jobs for youths.<\/p>\n

Others include housing, manufacturing and food security.<\/p>\n
