Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Ebwali Secondary School are the new Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) boys\u2019 football champion.<\/p>\n

Ebwali, coached by Francis Muhambe, edged Nairobi\u2019s Highway 1-0 in a tough final played at Nakuru High School on Monday.<\/p>\n

Tom Osekio scored the all-important goal barely five minutes into the match following a free kick.<\/p>\n

\u201cFinals are always closely contested affair. I\u2019m happy we won our first title and our focus now turns on the East Africa title,\u201d said Muhambe.<\/p>\n

In the girls’ category, Wiyeta claimed their 10th title after a hard-fought 4-1 post-match penalties win over Dagoretti Mixed. The teams played to a barren draw after extra time.<\/p>\n

In the dramatic penalty shootout, Doreen Aujat, Shalyne Opisa, Lavenda Waswa and Praxides Shivikhwa scored for Wiyeta while Dagoretti\u2019s lone spot-kick was scored by Fasila Odhiambo.<\/p>\n

Wiyeta coach Edgar Manyara admitted: \u201cIt was a tough match. Our opponents came to defend but we managed to beat them on penalties.\u201d He said they will target a sixth title when they go to Arusha for the regional competition.<\/p>\n

Kwanthanze retained the girls\u2019 volleyball title after a hard-fought 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-19) win over Kesogon from Rift Valley region.<\/p>\n

Cheptil beat Western region\u2019s Namwela 3-2 (23-25, 23-25, 25-16,25-21,15-10) to claim the boys\u2019 volleyball title.<\/p>\n

Dr. Aggrey Academy and Kaya Tiwi from Coast clinched the boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 basketball titles. Dr. Aggrey beat Dagoretti 70-64 in an epic final to lift the title on their debut at the nationals while Kaya Tiwi beat Olympic 60-54.<\/p>\n

St. Anthony’s Kitale retained the boys\u2019 hockey title after a narrow 1-0 win over Friends School, Kamusinga. Fred Ouma scored the lone goal.<\/p>\n

St Mary\u2019s Tachasis claimed the girls’ hockey title after a 5-4 post-match penalties win over Trans Nzoia Mixed. Caroline Chepkoskei was named the competition\u2019s Most Valuable Player.<\/p>\n

Kobala from Nyanza clinched the netball title. The Nyanza champions beat Bumala from the Western region 48-35 to win their title. Kobala\u2019s inspirational captain Doreen Akinyi scored a game-high of 35 points.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud of the girls because we have won this tournament unbeaten. We were the better team because we trained and played with experienced premier league teams before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hospital Hill defeated Kamito 30-20 to win the boys\u2019 handball title while Moi, Kamusinga beat St Joseph\u2019s Kitale 17-11 to win the girls’ crown.<\/p>\n

Kimilili Boys beat Nyanza\u2019s Manyatta 25-19 to finish third while Kakrao claimed the bronze in the girls’ category after a 33-18 win over Simisi.<\/p>\n
