Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has urged President William Ruto to allow lawyer Miguna Miguna to return to Kenya.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Thursday, Mutunga said that Ruto must lift Miguna’s red alerts.<\/p>\n

“He must. We are talking about the disobedience of over 17 court orders in favour of Miguna,” he tweeted.<\/p>\n

Miguna was first deported on February 26, 2018.<\/p>\n

He was expected to return to the country in November 2021 but he could not due to the red alerts.<\/p>\n

He moved to court seeking to have the alerts removed but his case was invalidated.<\/p>\n

Miguna had earlier demanded to be facilitated to return to the country to attend the inauguration ceremony for President William Ruto.<\/p>\n

In a letter dated September 7, Miguna through his lawyer Adrian Kamotho, wrote to the Assumption of the Office of the President Committee chairperson Joseph Kinyua, saying it would be against the Constitution to carry on with their business, without any reasonable regard for his plight in exile.<\/p>\n

“Thus, your Committee has an overarching duty and legal obligation to ensure that our client is facilitated to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 5th president, His Excellency William Samoei Ruto without fail,” the letter read.<\/p>\n

Miguna was vocal and drummed up support for Ruto during campaigns.<\/p>\n
