Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Azimio La Umoja youth have cautioned coalition politicians against rushing to be accommodated in the ruling Kenya Kwanza Alliance.<\/p>\n

Jubilee youth chairman Advice Mundalo said Azimio needs to provide sufficient checks and balances to President William Ruto\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beauty with the success of a regime is that both those who voted for it and those who didn\u2019t thrive. This only happens with the government having two sides to it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Mundalo said Azimio leaders should regroup and provide the necessary checks and balances to the regime.<\/p>\n

The remarks come barely two days after Africa Gospel Church Kenya bishop Robert Langat said the country requires a vibrant opposition to keep the government in power in check.<\/p>\n

Langat urged Ruto to allow the Opposition to thrive and asked him to stop preying on its members, saying for his government to thrive and become more productive, it requires a strong oversight.<\/p>\n

Several Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Coalition leaders have since decamped to the Kenya Kwanza side.<\/p>\n

But Ruto has pledged to work with the country\u2019s opposition to ensure oversight of his administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will work with the opposition to the extent that they provide oversight over my administration,\u201d Ruto said when he was declared the winner on August 15.<\/p>\n

Azimio lawmakers have been decamping to the Kenya Kwanza side since Ruto was declared winner of the August 9 presidential election.<\/p>\n

They include Mandera Senator Ali Roba and seven MPs elected on his UDM party ticket alongside two governors.<\/p>\n

Movement for Growth and Democracy led by Ugenya MP David Ochieng has also since decamped to Kenya Kwanza.<\/p>\n

The parties were affiliates of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party led by Raila Odinga.<\/p>\n

Former Kisii county governor James Ongwae, an ally of Raila, also led a delegation from Kisii and Nyamira counties to Ruto\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Mundalo said he will be leading a brigade of the youth in providing oversight to Ruto\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cI invite young people to join us as we strive to make the country a better place for all of us for such is the hope for our flagbearer Raila Odinga and Jubilee party leader and chairman Uhuru Kenyatta,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mundalo noted that in every election, there will be a myriad of issues and realities the opposition will peg their loss on.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf Kenya Kwanza lost today, they would also have a lot of blame game to do and maybe, it could be worse,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe 2022 election is done and dusted and as tough as it might have been, the country has a fifth Commander-in-Chief.\u201d<\/p>\n
