Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi now wants ODM party leader Raila Odinga to stop attacking the Supreme Court of Kenya for throwing out his presidential petition.<\/p>\n

Raila had challenged the election of William Ruto at the Supreme Court but his case was unanimously thrown out by the seven judges.<\/p>\n

While reacting to Raila’s recent comments on the verdict, Ahmednasir opined that the opposition chief has a penchant for making remarks that are dangerous to Kenyan democracy whenever his bid to the presidency fails.<\/p>\n

He further implored him to leave the Supreme court to discharge their mandate to enable the growth of independent institutions.<\/p>\n

“The lies and propaganda Hon Raila and his political supporters spew every time his quest for power is put to the kobish by the will of people is dangerously detrimental to our democracy and the growth of our governance institutions. Hon Raila…please leave alone the Supreme Court,” Ahmednasir tweeted on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The tweet comes a day after the ODM leader termed the Supreme Court verdict as “inspiration of the devil”.<\/p>\n

While attacking the Judiciary for the verdict, Raila said the judges were influenced by external forces to make the decision.<\/p>\n

He spoke during a meeting with Azimio elected leaders in Machakos on Friday.<\/p>\n

Raila said Chief Justice Martha Koome had already defended the judgement even before the final release of detailed ruling.<\/p>\n

“The Chief Justice has gone out to a funeral in her village and defended the judgment even before she gives out the detailed ruling, Supreme court is now in politics and she said that the ruling was inspired by God, I believe it was inspired by the devil,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

Raila said it was evidence that the courts sold it soul.<\/p>\n

“Actions of Koome demeans the dignity of the Chief Justice office. She has destroyed what her predecessors achieved,” he said.<\/p>\n

Raila said that the words Koome used while giving the ruling have never been used in court before.<\/p>\n

“We have noticed the attitude, the thuggery, the corruption… the words Supreme Court used against us have never been used even in the dark days of single party rule and state capture of the Judiciary,” Raila said.<\/p>\n

“The Chief Justice described our case presented by the country’s finest legal minds as no more than hot air, a wild goose chase, incredible and hearsay evidence.”<\/p>\n

Raila claimed rigging in the August 9 general election did not just happen at the presidential level.<\/p>\n
