Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Wiper leader Kalonzo Muysoka has said the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance will defend the four ‘rebel’ IEBC commissioners against any attempt to remove them from office.<\/p>\n

In as statement on Saturday, the Wiper leader who was reading a statement by the Azimio coalition faulted President William Ruto for ongoing plans to kick out the four from office.<\/p>\n

The commissioners led by Vice chair Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang\u2019aya had distanced themselves from the presidential results terming them opaque.<\/p>\n

Kalonzo, however, asked Ruto and his allies to leave the four alone.<\/p>\n

“We totally condemn this brazen act of witch hunt and demand that the President and his agents leave those officers alone. On our part we commit to do whatever it takes to protect those officers from any attempts in fringe their basic rights,” Kalonzo said.<\/p>\n

The statement came after Farmers party, an affiliate of the Kenya Kwanza coalition, filed a petition at the National Assembly to remove the commissioners from office.<\/p>\n

\u201cFarmers Party has presented to the National Assembly a petition for the removal of 4 commissioners of IEBC following the attempt by the said commissioners to sabotage an election process as witnessed on August 15, 2022 at Bomas of Kenya,” read the statement by the Farmers Party.<\/p>\n

Once the petition is deliberated by the National Assembly, the petition will be presented to the President for appointment of a tribunal for the removal of the commissioners<\/p>\n

Garissa Township MP Aden Duale had also stated that the four will face the law for their actions saying they will no go unpunished.<\/p>\n

The four filed affidavits at the Supreme Court of Kenya asking the apex court to nullify the August 9, elections.<\/p>\n
