Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>The National Police Service (NPS) on Thursday participated in the launch of knowledge products for the deaf at Machakos Youth Centre.<\/p>\n

The Service was joined by the Deaf Empowerment Kenya (DEK) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).<\/p>\n

The launch is part of other activities undertaken by the DEK in marking 2022’s Deaf Awareness Week.<\/p>\n

The year’s theme is “Building inclusive communities for all”.<\/p>\n

The information products have been developed with input from the NPS, the Judiciary, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n

This is in a bid to empower the deaf so that they can interact with, and understand the criminal justice system.<\/p>\n

In attendance were representatives from Machakos County Child Welfare Services among other state and non-state partners.<\/p>\n

Representatives from the NPS lauded the UNODC, DEK, EU and other partners for the collaboration and support in a cause that affords the deaf access to justice.<\/p>\n
