Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Siaya governor James Orengo on Thursday appointed retired Auditor General FCPA Edward Ouko to chair a task force that will forensically audit the financial and human resource operations of the devolved unit.<\/p>\n

Ouko will lead the other six members of the team to evaluate, assess and determine the county\u2019s human resource establishment and revenue administration in 60 days.<\/p>\n

The task force, which will receive technical expertise and support from the Institute of Economic Affairs, has however been directed to deliver an interim report within the first month.<\/p>\n

In a press release Thursday evening, Orengo said that the seven-member task force will focus mainly on the last two financial years.<\/p>\n

Other members of the task force are Adams Oloo, Grace Ongile, Madam Bella Akinyi, Peter Joseph okoth, Jared Buoga and Rowena Stella Ndeda, who will serve as the secretary.<\/p>\n

In particular, the task force will review existing financial and other internal control systems, processes and procedures of budget management and IFMIS operations.<\/p>\n

It will also audit own-source revenue collection and utilization, integrity and efficiency of county government activities and supply chains.<\/p>\n

Auditing of imprest accounts, retention accounts, pending bills, project management committee funds, payroll and staff establishment is another function the committee will have to do.<\/p>\n

It will assess and recommend reforms in governance structure and systems for the purpose of enhancement of efficient and accountable service delivery.<\/p>\n

Finally, the team is tasked to advise the county on sector-based growth and development and lastly advise on the automation of county operations and e-governance.<\/p>\n
