Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Former technical assistant to President Uhuru Kenyatta, Mutahi Ngunyi has said that State House should not weaponise the church.<\/p>\n

In a statement on Monday, Ngunyi said that God is full of surprises but not a trusted political weapon.<\/p>\n

He added that God is independent.<\/p>\n

“State House should not weaponise the church. And if they do so, they will attract God. He will send upon them prophets and poets of truth. Then Ruto will have to behead the prophets and castrate the poets. God is independent. He is not a trusted political weapon. He has surprises,” Ngunyi said.<\/p>\n

His remarks come a day after President William Ruto hosted church leaders at State House Nairobi for a thanksgiving service, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The move has, however, raised questions from a section of Kenyans, some of whom feel that it was wrong for the head of state to do so.<\/p>\n

A section has also defended the President’s move to have church leaders at his official residence.<\/p>\n

During the service, President Ruto asked the clergy to pray for the country and the economic recovery journey the Kenya Kwanza administration is taking.<\/p>\n

He also invited them for cleansing prayers at State House.<\/p>\n
