Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>Kenya will be represented by Shujaa, Morans, and Menengai Oilers at the next month’s Safari Sevens tournament at the RFUEA ground.<\/p>\n

Shujaa edged out Germany 12-5 to lift the Safari Sevens title that is also known as the Robin Cahill Trophy last year.<\/p>\n

Morans claimed bronze after disposing off Red Wailers 12-5 in the play-off for third place.<\/p>\n

Menengai Oilers won the national Sevens circuit in July and are expected to offer a formidable test in the three-day rugby tournament.<\/p>\n

Event’s Organising Committee chairman Moses Ndale said by the end of the week, they will be able to release the 16 teams for the tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hoping to invite some of the World’s top teams, especially with the tournament coming three weeks before the World Seven Series,\u201d Ndale noted.<\/p>\n

The Kenya Rugby Union vice chairman said they need Sh80 million for the three-day rugby extravaganza.<\/p>\n

“We are already talking to various sponsors and corporates to see if they can sponsor the event. We hope in the next few days and weeks we will be able to announce that,\u201d he added. Ndale expressed confidence that the tournament will be a competitive one.<\/p>\n

“I’m confident we will have a very good tournament considering the calibre of teams we are inviting. We hope to use the event as a build-up for Shujaa ahead of the World Sevens Series,” he added.<\/p>\n

Shujaa have already resumed training for the new season barely two weeks following the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Cape Town.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Kenya Rugby Union will host a series of training and education courses over the next two weeks.<\/p>\n

A World Rugby Level 2 (15’s) coaching course will be held in Nairobi on September 30 and October 1 with World Rugby Level 1 coaching and officiating (15’s) courses taking place on October 7-8 at the same venue.<\/p>\n

The Level 2 course is limited to coaches in the Kenya Cup, KRU Championship and KRU Nationwide leagues without Level 1 qualification.<\/p>\n
