Africa-Press – Kenya. <\/strong><\/span>It is a sigh of relief for thousands of young people seeking on job experience after jobs linking firm, BrighterMonday partnered with the government to offer internships.<\/p>\n

The partnership with Creative Management Consultants and Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) seeks to benefit almost 3,000 youths in 17 counties.<\/p>\n

The World Bank funded initiative aims to drive socio-economic development for the youth in the country.<\/p>\n

Youth unemployment is among the economic concerns that have prevailed over the past decade, with the situation currently noted to be on the rise.<\/p>\n

According to World Bank, 5.7 per cent of Kenya\u2019s labour force was out of work in 2021, up from 2.8 per cent in 2013.<\/p>\n

Youths, through the platform, are set to benefit from employer engagement and identification of opportunities that are relevant to their areas of training while responding to industry and market needs.<\/p>\n

They will also be offered internships and apprenticeship placement leading up to Job placement after successful completion of their internships<\/p>\n

Brighter Monday’s CEO Brian Ntambirweki said that they remain keen on supporting the youths and giving them access to jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe programme will lay the ground for both organizations to shape more strategies for the youth to get empowered and be viable for employability,\u201d Ntambirweki said.<\/p>\n

National project co-ordinator at KYEOP, Augustine Mayabi, lauded the initiative saying that it will enable the youths to get access to training and employment opportunities to solve the unemployment crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201c We have noticed that after training these youths with various training institutions, we lose track of some, and we now want to bring them back on board to offer internships and employment opportunities,\u201d Mayabi said.<\/p>\n

To tackle unemployment, organizations are being urged to keep devising strategies to deal with the problem.<\/p>\n
